The Crosstab model released an updated prediction of the election result. The model currently predicts a major vote share of 44.7% for Clinton, and 55.3% for Trump in Mississippi. In comparison, on November 5, Clinton was predicted to achieve 44.9% of the vote.
Putting the results in context
As any other method, models are subject to bias. As a result, a good strategy is to not be overly confident the results of an individual econometric model. Rather than relying on results from single models, the evidence-based approach is to look at combined models or, even better, a combined forecast that includes different methods and data.
Comparison to the combined PollyVote
The most recent PollyVote foresees Trump to gain 54.9% of the two-party vote in Mississippi. PollyVote currently predicts Trump to gain 0.4 percentage points less compared to the results of the Crosstab model.
