Crosstab model in Maine: Clinton is in the lead
The Crosstab model released an updated prediction of the election outcome. It currently forecasts a major vote share of 56.3% for Clinton, and 43.7% for Trump in Maine.
Putting the results in context
As any other method, models are subject to bias. Therefore, as a general rule, one should not have too much confidence in the results of an individual econometric model. Rather, one should examine how a model's results compare to benchmark forecasts.
Comparison to the combined PollyVote
The current PollyVote anticipates Clinton to gain 55.6% of the two-party vote in Maine. PollyVote currently predicts Clinton to gain 0.7 percentage points less compared to the results of the Crosstab model.
