Illinois: DeSart & Holbrook model shows Clinton in the lead
The DeSart & Holbrook model is captured in the econometric models component of the PollyVote. It currently predicts a major vote share of 62.2% for Clinton, and 37.8% for Trump in Illinois. In comparison, on October 12 Trump was still predicted to collect 46.5% of the vote.
Putting the results in context
Individual models should be treated with caution, because they often include substantial biases. Instead of trusting the results from single models, we recommend to look at combined models or, even better, a combined forecast that relies on forecasts from different methods, each of which draws upon different data.
Results compared to the combined PollyVote forecast
The current PollyVote predicts Clinton to gain 58.9% of the two-party vote in Illinois. PollyVote currently predicts Clinton to gain 3.3 percentage points less compared to the results of the DeSart & Holbrook model.
