The DeSart & Holbrook model provided an updated prediction of the election result. The model currently predicts a major vote share of 43.7% for Clinton, and 56.3% for Trump in South Carolina.
Putting the results in context
Single models may include substantial biases, and should be interpreted with caution. Rather than trusting the results from single models, forecasting research recommends to rely on combined models or, even better, a combined forecast that draws upon forecasts from different methods, each of which draws upon different data.
Comparison to the combined PollyVote
The latest PollyVote forecasts Trump to gain 54.5% of the two-party vote in South Carolina. PollyVote currently predicts Trump to gain 1.8 percentage points less compared to the results of the DeSart & Holbrook model.
