DeSart & Holbrook model in South Dakota: Trump is in the lead
The DeSart & Holbrook model published an updated prediction of the election outcome. It currently predicts a major vote share of 42.6% for Clinton, and 57.4% for Trump in South Dakota.
Putting the results in context
As any other method, models are subject to bias. Hence, a good strategy is to not focus too much on the results of an individual econometric model. Rather than relying on results from single models, we recommend to rely on combined models or, even better, the combined PollyVote forecast that draws upon forecasts from different methods, each of which draws upon different data.
The DeSart & Holbrook model compared with PollyVote's prediction
The current PollyVote predicts Trump to gain 58.9% of the two-party vote in South Dakota. PollyVote currently predicts Trump to gain 1.5 percentage points more compared to the results of the DeSart & Holbrook model.
