PPP (D) published the results of a new poll. In this poll, respondents from New Mexico were asked for whom they will vote: Republican nominee Donald Trump or Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton.
PPP (D) poll results
Of those who answered the question, 41.0% said that they plan to vote for former New York Senator Hillary Clinton, whereas 33.0% said that they would give their vote to businessman Donald Trump.
The poll was conducted from May 13 to May 15 with 802 likely voters.
Putting the results in context
Individual polls may incorporate large biases, which is why they should be interpreted with caution. At the very least, one should check how a poll's results compare to benchmark forecasts.
For the following comparison, we translate Trump's and Clinton's raw poll numbers into two-party vote shares. This procedure yields figures of 55.4% for Clinton and 44.6% for Trump.
Results compared to the combined PollyVote forecast
The latest PollyVote expects Clinton to gain 55.5% of the two-party vote in New Mexico. That is, Polly's forecast is 0.1 points above her polling numbers.
