WSB-TV/LandmarkWSB-TV released the results of a new poll, in which respondents from Georgia were asked for whom they will vote: Democrat Hillary Clinton or Republican Donald Trump.
WSB-TV/LandmarkWSB-TV poll results
The poll was carried out from July 31 to July 31 with 787 likely voters. There is a sampling error of +/-4.0 percentage points. Considering this error margin, the race is currently a statistical tie.
Putting the results in context
As any other method, polls are subject to bias. Hence, a good strategy is to not focus too much on the results of an individual poll. Rather, one should check how a poll's results compare to benchmark forecasts.
For the following comparison, we translate Clinton's and Trump's raw poll numbers into two-party vote shares. This yields figures of 50.0% for Clinton and 0.0% for Trump. On July 26 Clinton obtained only 48.9% in the WSB-TV/LandmarkWSB-TV poll and Trump obtained 51.1%.
Results in comparison to other polls
In comparison to the average results of other polls Clinton performed better with 51.4 percentage points, while Trump did worse with 51.4 percentage points. The most recent PollyVote predicts Clinton to gain 52.6% and Trump % of the two-party vote in Georgia.
