Iowa: New NBC/WSJ/MaristNBC/WSJ/Marist poll shows Democrats leading
On March 23, NBC/WSJ/MaristNBC/WSJ/Marist released the results of a new poll, in which respondents from Iowa were asked for whom they would vote if the parties' nominees were Hillary Clinton for the Democrats and Donald Trump for the Republicans.
The results reveal that 48.0% of respondents will vote for the Democrats, whereas 40.0% said they would vote for Republican party. This poll was conducted from January 2 to January 7, among a random sample of 1470 registered voters. The margin of error is +/-2.6 percentage points.
According to other surveys
Converting these results into two-party vote shares yields values of 54.6% for the Democrat Clinton and 45.5% for the Republican Trump. The Democrats did worse by 1.7 percentage points in comparison to the average results of the other polls in Iowa.
