Virginia: Democrats hold clear lead in recent Christopher Newport University poll
The results of a new poll, sponsored Christopher Newport University in Virginia, were released on April 17. In the survey participants were asked, whether they would vote for democrat Hillary Clinton or republican Donald Trump, assuming that these two candidates would win the primaries. Of those who answered the question, 44.0% revealed that they plan to vote for Hillary Clinton, whereas 35.0% declared that they would give their vote to Donald Trump. The poll was carried out from March 23 to April 3 with 1167 registered voters. Figures have a +/-3.1 percentage points sampling error.
Converting these results into two-party vote shares yields values of 55.7% for the Democrats and 44.3% for the Republicans. The vote share for the democrats is 2.1 percentage points over the average results of other polls in Virginia.
