The results of a new poll, conducted on behalf of Roanoke College in Virginia, were published on April 1. In the survey participants were asked, whether they would vote for democrat Hillary Clinton or republican Donald Trump, assuming that these two candidates would win the primaries. The results reveal that 52.0% of interviewees plan to vote for the Democrats, while 35.0% said they would vote for GOP. The poll was conducted from January 18 to January 26 among 524 likely voters. The error margin is +/-4.3 percentage points.
Translating these results into two-party vote shares yields figures of 59.8% for the democrat Hillary Clinton and 40.2% for Donald Trump. In comparison to the average results of other polls in Virginia The democrats did worse in this poll.
