Iowa: New NBC-WSJ-Marist poll shows Democrats ahead
The results of a new poll, conducted by NBC-WSJ-Marist in Iowa, were released on March 24. In the survey participants were asked, whether they would vote for democrat Hillary Clinton or republican Donald Trump, assuming that these two candidates would win the primaries. Of those who responded, 48.0% revealed that they would vote for the Democrats, whereas 40.0% indicated that they would give their vote to the Republicans. The poll was conducted from January 2 to January 7 among 1470 registered voters. The margin of error is +/-2.6 points.
Converting these results into two-party vote shares yields figures of 54.6% for the democrat Clinton and 45.5% for the republican Trump. The vote share for the democrats is 1.7 percentage points under the average results of other polls in Iowa.
