Iowa: Latest NBC-WSJ-Marist poll: Democrats at 48%
The results of a new poll, conducted on behalf of NBC-WSJ-Marist in Iowa, were published on March 31. In the survey participants were asked, whether they would vote for democrat Hillary Clinton or republican Donald Trump, assuming that these two candidates would win the primaries. Of those who responded, 48.0% said that they intend to vote for the democrat Hillary Clinton, whereas 40.0% indicated that they would give their vote to the republican Donald Trump. The poll was carried out from January 2 to January 7 with 1470 registered voters. The error margin is +/-2.6 points.
Translating these results into two-party vote shares yields values of 54.6% for the Democrats and 45.5% for the Republicans. The democrats did worse by 1.7 percentage points in comparison to the average results of the other polls in Iowa.
