Results of a new poll carried out by Christopher Newport University were released on April 7. Participants from Virginia were asked, who they would give their vote to, if the election were today. According to the results, 44.0% of respondents intend to vote for the Democratic Party, while 35.0% intend to vote for the Republican Party. The poll was conducted from March 23 to April 3 with 1167 registered voters. The sampling error is +/-3.1 points.
Converting these results into two-party vote shares yields figures of 55.7% for the democrat Clinton and 44.3% for Trump.
